CLASS RULES

1.  Departmental regulations stipulate that  Microbiology majors have priority for registration in this class.  Students must have completed the MCDB 1 series (or equivalent) with a grade of "C" or better.

2.  Students are required to take a midterm and final exam.  Make-up exams are not given.  If you are too ill to take one of the exams (i.e. cannot get out of bed!) you must have a valid, written explanation from your physician to do a make-up assignment. 

3.  Paper Schedule:

Oct 4        Paper guidelines distributed in class.

Oct 18      One paragraph, typed description of topic with xerox copy of

                 first page of major paper (including abstract) is due in class.

Nov 20     Paper is due.  After 5 pm Nov 27, paper will be graded down.

Nov 29     Papers will not be accepted after 5 pm Nov 29

4.  Grades:  Grading is on a curve.  The distribution of points is as follows:

Midterm                            100 pts

Paper                                  50 pts

Discussion Section            50 pts

Final Exam                       150 pts

The midterm will be fill-in, multiple choice, short answer, and essay.  The format of the final will be announced well in advance.

5.  Cheating in any form will result in a grade of "F" in the class, and you will be referred to the Dean of Students.
