CLASS RULES

1.  Departmental regulations stipulate that  Microbiology majors have priority for registration in this class.  Students must have completed the MCDB 1 series (or equivalent) with a grade of "C" or better.

2.  Students are required to take a midterm and final exam.  Make-up exams are not given.  If you are too ill to take one of the exams (i.e. cannot get out of bed!) you must have a valid, written explanation from your physician to do a make-up assignment. 

3.  Important Dates:

Oct 2        Paper guidelines distributed in class.

Oct 16      One paragraph, typed description of your topic with a xerox copy of the

                 first page of your major paper (including abstract) is due in class.

Oct 23      Midterm

Nov 25     Paper is due.  After 5 pm Nov 25, paper will be graded down.

Dec 2       Papers will not be accepted after 5 pm on Friday, Dec 2

4.  Grades:  Grading is on a curve.  The distribution of points is as follows:

Midterm                            100 pts

Paper                                  50 pts

Discussion Section            50 pts

Final Exam                       150 pts

The midterm will be fill-in, multiple choice, short answer, and essay.  The format of the final will be announced well in advance.

5.  Cheating in any form will result in a grade of "F" in the class, and you will be referred to the Dean of Students.
