Responding to Questions
A number of Biology upper division courses are currently using or planning to use personal student response clickers during classroom lectures.  This relatively new technology allows students to respond to questions during lecture and have their individual response recorded.  In addition, all the responses are immediately tabulated and shown as distribution which allows students to see how they compare to the rest of the class.  The purpose of implementing this technology is to introduce active learning into our courses.  This method has been shown to be far more effective than traditional lecture methods where students passively record information presented by the instructor.
